Hello everyone!!! Just a very very very random post. Since Chinese new year is approaching, just like to wish all of your HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!
It has really been a really long journey being juniors right? So this is the question for all of you sec2 seniors how do you think will the sec our juniors be like? Insolent, Impudent, Bubbly,Boastful,Bashful, Energetic or maybe cute and adorable???

Before ending my post, i would to wish you all a happy Chinese new year a few days later and work hard for SYF. Hope we are all going to participate in it !!!

Music night 2008. It marks our first performance ever on our own. Though it was pretty last minute, we really did our best amidst all those common tests and what not. I would say it wasn't our best but i bet we all had fun through the preparation, the long wait before performing and of course the moment we were on "stage". Despite the wrong notes, crammed positions, low stands, fast heartbeat and sweaty hands, we did it together, as one band. Most importantly, it was the experience that was worthwhile. Well, we learnt that even though we practised hard, it wasn't hard enough to ensure that nothing goes wrong. But hey, it isn't really an easy feat you know, with so many ppl watching us. Anyway, we did manage to have some FUN! Well, nothing describes it better than pictures.

dear all..

as what i mentioned to anna over the phone last night, it is not advisable for you guys to stay till so late to practise this week as it is your CA week. I'm sure even if your parents do not scold you, they are still very much concerned since I think it will, whether we like it or not, take a toll on your studies if you stay till 6 plus everyday.

So, instead of staying till 6 plus everyday, we will open the band room till about 4 everyday. You guys can drop by to play and practise for about slightly more than an hour. I will be able to come down on tuesday and thursday. Like what i've mentioned before, consistency is the most important thing when it comes to playing. It doesn't help if you play till 6 plus everyday this week or for some days and do not continue this practice in future. Playing an hour everyday will help you more in the long run as compared to stretching yourself this week.

I need you to understand that as much as i'm very glad you guys are working very hard and wanting to practise every single day till 6 plus, i'm also concerned about your grades and studies. Everything in life needs a balance. Even in music. Remember the triangle I mentioned before-the balance between and within sections? You need to be able to balance between your studies and band too.

One more important thing is discipline. If you can exercise discipline in your studies or any aspects of your life, I'm sure you'll be able to use that in your music playing too. So, let's all be disciplined enough to study and mug hard for our exams yet at the same time practise our instruments! Jia you for the exams ya!! =)

hey juniors~ WAYNE POSTING HERE. the SO CALLED "BOTAK" in the band. LOL!
eh..got something to tell u all. after tmr, its going to stick into ur heart for life. its a once in a lifetime thing so yup. cherish it. u all will get wat i mean by tmr. some may shed tears after u bid farewell to ur sec4s but still, dun let this take ur heart out. Hello dear juniors, I’m writing on behalf of most of our seniors who think the same way as I do, including Yunhan, Wayne, etc..

Dear juniors, firstly, you guys have to improve and realise what is happening around you all already. It is already June, and some of you still cannot play your notes or instrument well. You’ll be joining the seniors in a few months time. You guys really have to practice to rise up to our standard or even better. Your batch will be joining us in SYF next year. We don’t want to get a mere COP right? I’m sure we all want to maintain our standard or silver or more.

Secondly, you guys have to respect Miss Jama. Whenever Miss Jama conducts or talks to you all, do not cut her off. WAIT for her to finish talking first, then raise up your hands and ask her whatever question you have for her. When Miss Jama gives you all a break, please spend the break time to look through your scores, rest or make do with it as a water break. You know what you cannot do – eat cup noodles.

Next, year by year, as sec fours of each year leave, our standard goes down, and down and down … we definitely don’t want that. WE want to improve. WE as a whole band want to improve to a standard, better than the previous batch. YOU guys want that too right? Nothing comes easy, and it takes time to play your instrument well. 10 minutes of practice a day would do. I don’t think you guys will study the whole day right? Take out 10 minutes of your leisure time to practice! It works and helps!

And, when seniors get punished because of you guys, its not entirely your faults! It is also our fault! We didn’t teach you properly, we’ve neglected you all, so don’t be sad, or feel guilty or whatever. Prove and show to us that you guys can do it! Don’t worry much, because we now have muscles:D cool huh? *shows off* XD

This really short message here from most of our seniors, we want to tell you to really start working hard already. Some of you may say it is ‘just a CCA’ and that we ‘no need to take things so seriously’ but BAND is not just a CCA. It is a CCA whereby you discover your leadership qualities, you learn music, and you enjoy music together, make music together. I’m sure some of you have this really special feeling when you play in a band arrangement right? You feel this really indescribable feeling... that band music is actually really cool! You get to listen to different instruments and their parts, and when put together, how magnificent it sounds right? Yep, so I hope that after you guys read this message, you’ll would really improve and stuff yea? Prove to the other seniors you can do it! Show us that you can on Monday, and the other practices.Please reflect after reading this message.

I know this might sound a bit weird. But, I just really want to say Thank you for teaching me to know what it is like to feel happy even though i only heard one note that's in tune, what it is like to feel excited even when i'm feeling very tired, what it is like to feel angry and disappointed when i expected more, what it is like to go around the school to find a place to practise when there's flies everywhere, what it is like to make myself think of weird (sometimes funny) stories to tell you guys to relate to. Thank you for sharing and giving me a chance to befriend you.

Okay...I have no idea what happened today.Why did the seniors have to get punished?All I know is that we were the cause of it...so...if anybody would kindly tell me what happened I'll appreciate it.

Anyways,I'm not posting this just to beat you all down,even after today...I feel that I am guilty as well..I bet it was because of our drills...seriously,it's not up to standard,to what standard?to a standard that we don't have to repeat the command.I know I'm not anyone to say anything about drills because I'm not good at it myself.But I make it an effort to LISTEN to what the seniors say about my mistakes,bend knees,bang not loud enough...and I take the initiative to actually do something about it.So I really hope you guys follow...

Mmmm...I don't really have much to say,except for sorry to the seniors and work hard..juniors...like I said...the future of this band is in YOUR hands...please,work hard.

hmmm.. how come the blog's not really updated... webmasters, please do your job ya.. the 2 handsome guys, please do something ya..

I would say that the trip to Thailand was alright.. You guys know why? Simply because you guys weren't there! Anyway, i hope everyone brought your instruments home and diligently practise everyday ya.. There's this saying that goes:

Ughhh,finally back from the Thailand trip.It was so fun and very meaningful,learnt alot of stuff and had lotsa fun.The Hotel was like so niceee and the food was awesome,too bad you guys weren't there ...anyhow,I learnt quite alot from the tutor,he has like 20 years of experience,Ms.Jama was there to attend the lesson with us(percussionists) so you can ask her XD.

Hello,Sean here.Guess I'll start writing bout my instrument...okay I'll just copy+paste from Wikipedia XD.A percussion instrument is any object which produces a sound by being hit with an implement, shaken, rubbed, scraped, or by any other action which sets the object into vibration. Uhh,I could post a page worth of words,but I guess that's enough...The reason why I chose to be a percussionist would be because well,I've always been inspired to be one,and I had someone to motivate me for it...plus the way percussionists makes sound is totally different from any other instrument,and the instruments are like..teh awesome!

Hello everyone,updating this blog at 1:10 a.m.(time I started writing),I have no idea why I'm awake...but anyways,I'm here to talk abit about the music I listen to.

Well,99.5% of the songs I listen to comes from this company called BEMANI,they create music simulation games like DrumMania,GuitarFreaks,BeatMania,Pop'n Music,Dance Dance Revolution...I might have missed out some,not my fault =(.Anyways,you can say I worship BEMANI like it's a God,>_> the songs they make are awesome,I could list you guys some songs that I really enjoy if you want,although there's like 213021391248 GB worth to choose from,I'll try if you guys want.

Hmmm.. I hope the exams were good and you guys did ok ya.. heh.. has exams ended? If it hasn't, hold in there ya.. well, look at it as the holidays are coming.. and... and... band prac is RESUMING.. hehe.. yayness!!

anywayz, just some updates for you guys (and girls).. we will most likely be performing "what a wonderful world" with the other sec 1s for the Graduation Ceremony in June.. So, please look through and revise your parts before coming for prac k.. anyhow, when's band prac resuming? Is it next week..

One more thing, I was just thinking, I don't really get to see you guys alot, considering the amount of time taken to set up, toilet break and pack up...(and u guys talking and murmuring... and whatever things you guys do..think i don't notice right)
And the fact that you guys don't really see your seniors for sectionals either, I'm suggesting to have either individuals or sectionals with me on maybe the other days after school.. Well, you can just stay behind for maybe 45 mins after school and we can work some things out.. You guys for the idea? Get back to me so i can arrange some stuff ok?

Oh, and of course, i bet you guys will be able to do more interesting stuff during combined.. and i guess we'll be able to progress faster too.. =)

Hi all!!

I'm so sorry about not posting any earlier. Have been kinda stuck with schoolwork and exams. Anyway, let's just put it this way ya. I think it's not very nice to refer to individuals on this blog, especially if it's negative comments. No matter what it is, the blog is still a public domain and anyone can read it. And, it's a bit mean to post something like that right? I'm sure none of us want to be in that situation right? So, let's just all be a little bit more sensitive ya.

The next thing is, we should always give people chances. We shouldn't judge someone so readily and make certain comments. By doing so, we will already influence others on their impression of that individual. So, that's really not fair right? For example, if I tell everyone that A is so horrible, mean and rude. Even if you do not know who A is, you would already have made certain impressions of him/her from what I said. So, it's not fair and I hope all of you would disregard what was posted earlier. We should always accept anyone who readily wants to join us. So, just take note of this ya..

With regards to homework, please practise the following:
1. Concert Ab, Bb, C, D
2. Arpeggios of Concert Ab, Bb, C
3. Etude No. 4 (Tone & Technique)
4. Essential Elements No. 96, 97, 99, 100
5. What A Wonderful World

Note: Practising everyday for 20 mins on scales is better than not practising at all!! =)

Last but not least, all the best for your exams ya. Please please study hard and I'll see you guys when band resumes..

Hello Juniors. Why are you're so sian? If you time use computer, you would have the time to practice your instrument!So don't complain sian mah, go practice your instruments! Yep... and please complete whatever homework Miss Jama have for all of you! There's a purpose to why she gives you homeworks and tests. Yep and I'm sure most of you have sections on certain weekdays. Do learn as much as you can from the seniors who are tutoring you! They want to help you progress faster so that you'll can be up to our standard in no time! It is advisable to bring notebooks and pencils along during sectionals to take down notes and tips. Yep. lol. I'm supposed to entertain you all but lol... I'm nagging. Sorry!
Please keep what I've said in mind though. Oh yah, I have some photos of you'll in the library will send to some of yo soon.
